Hudson is a town that embraces its local delights and offers an abundance of exciting activities, delicious food, and warm-hearted people that make it easy to forget about our phones and immerse ourselves in the moment.

To kick-start our adventure in Hudson, let’s begin the day with a scrumptious breakfast that will energize us for the exciting journey ahead. Luckily, Hudson has some fantastic options for breakfast enthusiasts, and I can’t wait to share my favorite spots with you.

All featured in order:

Exploring Hudson: Breakfast/Brunch

If you’re a fan of delicious bagels and coffee, two places stand out: Cafe 641 and Main Street Bagel Factory. Let’s start with Cafe 641, a cozy little gem nestled in the heart of Hudson. As soon as you walk in, the delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm bagels fills the air, creating a welcoming ambiance. Their bagels are truly top-notch, boasting a perfect combination of a chewy interior and a crispy exterior. Whether you prefer classic flavors like plain or everything, or if you’re more adventurous and want to try unique varieties, Cafe 641 has got you covered. Pair your bagel with one of their expertly crafted coffees, and you’re in for a delightful breakfast experience.

On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for a more laid-back and relaxed breakfast setting, Main Street Bagel Factory is the place to be. This charming spot offers a wide selection of bagels, from savory options like bacon and cheddar to sweet delights like cinnamon raisin. Whatever your taste buds crave, you’re sure to find the perfect bagel to suit your preferences. The friendly staff at Main Street Bagel Factory ensures that every visit is enjoyable, and you can count on receiving a warm welcome as you start your day with a hearty breakfast. Don’t forget to try some of their specialty cream cheese spreads; they add an extra layer of deliciousness to your bagel.

But let’s not forget about the wonderful Victor’s 50’s Diner. If you’re in the mood for a more formal breakfast experience with a touch of nostalgia, this is the place to be. As soon as you step inside, you’ll feel like you’ve traveled back in time to the era of classic movies like “Grease.” The diner’s ambiance is captivating for all the old-movie lovers out there, and it adds to the overall dining experience. Victor’s 50s Diner offers a delectable breakfast menu that perfectly complements the retro setting. From classic American breakfast favorites to scrumptious pancakes and more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a fan of the vintage atmosphere or simply looking for a unique dining experience, Victor’s 50s Diner is a must-visit spot in Hudson. It’s another gem in the heartwarming community of Hudson!

We cannot forget about Kith and Kin, a cozy and inviting restaurant with a perfect blend of modern and vintage elements. The diverse menu offers mouthwatering dishes for both brunch and lunch, including classic favorites and adventurous options, with plenty of choices for vegetarians and vegans. The friendly staff, high-quality coffee, and warm atmosphere make Kith and Kin a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike, ensuring a memorable dining experience that will keep you coming back for more. My go-to choice would have to be the classic waffles.

Exploring Hudson: Fun Activities

After a delightful breakfast, let’s immerse ourselves in nature along the Assabet River Rail Trail . This picturesque trail follows an old railroad track, winding through Hudson and nearby towns, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and community charm. Surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil waters, we can bike, walk, jog, or run while enjoying the soothing sounds of nature, escaping the hustle of daily life. Nature enthusiasts will delight in observing wildlife, diverse bird species, colorful wildflowers, and the occasional gentle critter. The trail’s inclusive design welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels, creating a sense of unity as locals and visitors come together to relish the outdoors.

Along the way you’ll discover the Landing at Hudson Mills, where there’s plenty to do. I highly recommend reserving an escape room at the Puzzl Escape on the second floor. This is an amazing activity to get some laughs with friends or family as well as test your mind. However, if that is not your thing, then I would recommend my other favorite activity at the Landing Mill, and that would be the Earth and Aerial yoga studio where, again, do not forget to book a class but once you do this is so much fun. I had the chance to book a class with my best friend and trust me, we had so much fun. Both these activities can double as birthday parties if you’re ever thinking about what to do.

Exploring Hudson: An Afternoon Snack

Now that we’ve worked up a bit of an appetite, let’s head over to The Landing at Hudson Mills where you’ll find many things to do, such as stopping at the Wild Hare, my favorite coffee shop in Hudson. I highly recommend trying their iced green tea, but the absolute game-changer is their chocolate chip cookie with sea salt on top. Trust me; you won’t look at chocolate chip cookies the same way after trying this one! The Wild Hare is not only great for afternoon snacks but also a perfect spot for breakfast or dinner on a late-night hangout with friends, especially if you’re of legal drinking age. Their dinner menu is beyond creativity and deliciousness with excellent beer from their sister company, the Medusa Brewery!

If you’re in the mood for something different, you can head next door to The Good Earth Holistic Kitchen, an organic spot with amazing smoothies, protein bowls, açai bowls, and many other delicious treats. It is a holistic kitchen, so their food gets you feeling right. Their bowls are not only delicious but also Instagram-worthy, with a burst of colors and toppings that make it a feast for the eyes. Trust me when I say that this place does wonders for both your taste buds and your soul.

Exploring Hudson: Boutiques & more

As we continue our journey, let’s explore the downtown area of Hudson. The friendly community and charming boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants make it a must-visit. You’ve gotta check out Paisley Boutique, The Haberdash, Serendipity, B. Barton & Company, and many others, as well as Knotty Pine Design & Consignment at the landing mills, where you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll love. Trust me, you’ll find some amazing stuff to take home! The boutiques offer unique and stylish finds, from clothing and accessories to home decor and gifts. It’s a haven for shopaholics like me! But do keep in mind that they all close around 5 pm.

Exploring Hudson: Lunch & Dinner

Now, let’s talk about lunch or dinner. The Rail Trail and Flatbread Company is a must-visit; their menu is fire – from flatbreads to salads to burgers, they got it all. Plus, their outdoor patio is perfect for enjoying good food and good vibes on a sunny day. The patio is shaded by large umbrellas, creating a relaxed and comfortable dining space. You’ll find yourself savoring every bite while basking in the warm sunlight – a true delight!

If you’re still not sold on the menu, don’t worry. Head next door to Welly’s Restaurant, where you’ll find a bit of everything – calamari, wings, ravioli, quesadilla – you name it. But let me share my obsession: their chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta – it’s heavenly! The dish is generously portioned, and the chicken is tender and perfectly breaded, topped with a savory marinara sauce and melted cheese that sends you straight to pasta paradise.

To end our culinary adventure on a sweet note, head across the street to New City Microcreamery. They freeze ice cream with liquid nitrogen, and the flavors are endless! You’ll keep coming back for more, I promise. The liquid nitrogen process creates a super creamy and smooth texture, making each spoonful a heavenly experience. And if you love their ice cream, you can even grab a pint at a nearby Whole Foods and enjoy it at home whenever you want to indulge.

Before you go

Finally, visit Lesser Than Greater Than and travel back in time; with a discrete entrance, and lively atmosphere, the owner of Rail Trail has recreated a setting that mimics what a speakeasy would look like with handcrafted classic cocktails and innovative cuisine tucked away and disguised as a cobbler shop! Now if you’re more of a beer enthusiast (and 21+), don’t miss out on visiting the Medusa Brewing Company establishment in downtown Hudson. They offer a great selection of craft beers that you can enjoy with friends, making it a perfect way to end the day.
